hey everyone, I have a REALLY boring night class that lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, there are no exams, now homework, and I need this BS class to graduate, the professor counts attendance only, and I have to be there every monday, the class room has no WiFi, so there's nothing better to do but try to listen to the professor who doesn't give a crap about class, just his pay check

Now I want some free games I can play during class, you know, to make it go faster, what do you guys recommends, everybody in class has a windows laptop playing pin ball and solitaire...what can I get? something free :D

I would recommend getting a text based game that you can play in Terminal. Mainly because they are "light" to play. You can stop at any time since they are simply waiting on your input. This way if you actually need to pay attention to class or the professor asks you a question you don't have to pause or anything. Also it will just look like you're typing/reading.

Civilization. One of the best games ever made, imo. In it's free form. :)

Try and get hold of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy game - it is very funny and also very challenging. Even though it was released in 1984, the flexibility of the language system is excellent. There used to be a widget version of the game, but it seems to have disappeared. There are also a couple of Java versions floating about.

    Wolfire

Try Lightning's Shadow. It's a great freeware game put out by an indipendent mac developer Wolfire (maker of Lugaru).

Hehe, quality game - made by my mate from halls in uni!

It is a good game, very well recomended.

Also, worth a try is "Triaction", again made by Joe, i'm pretty sure you can get the mac version for free on aelius.com, but not windows since he sold that to Idigicon.

Both quality games (although the music in Triaction can get annoying, but its just an mp3 so you can wack your own one in its place (the sound track mp3 is called something like "The Fly"))

I tracked down the widget version... this will keep me busy for a while. :D

... and that N ninja game someone else mentioned is very fun and infuriating. :)
