As many of u guys already know, I'm into amateur photography. I've had a few inquiries recently on prints of certain photos I've taken. As a result, I'm deciding to take the plunge and get some prints done of my work in order to market myself locally.

Here where u guys come in! :D

I need contructive criticism. I want to know, in your opinions, which of the photos I have online u like best, and if possible why u like them as well. Pick a handful that u like and I would appreciate very much any feedback u guys give me. What my purpose is here, is to get majority rule on several photos so I can get those specific ones printed.

For those who want to help me out, please visit www.istockphoto.com, click on choice "#5 Search" on the lefthand column, and enter "eyelikeart" under the search "by artist." I currently have 61 images up and am hoping to narrow it down to about a dozen or so.

    thanks in advance! ;)

    cool photos

    i dig b&w...

    my favs are :
    chair shadows
    reaching for the goal
i like the way these two are positioned-makes the viewer work a little with a nice pay-off.

french quarter steps just has a nice weight to it.

    and of course...
    the up close 1200

wouldn't mind having that as wallpaper on my studio monitors. noticed it has a bunch of downloads.

congrats on the showing and thanks for sharing:)

    My choices are...

    dark sunlight
    lighting the way
    board of texture
    a sign of life
a peeling tree part (good depth of field shot)
colliding with the masses (it's ok :p)

You need to have some pictures of hotties there too... :D We need some eyecandy. :D

    nifty pics

    my faves are:

    a red way to enter
    brick road to the heavens
    freeze frame in motion

you have some nice perspective (ie brick road)

    your b&w's show refreshing contrast

    fun use of color! vibrant.

    i also like
looking through the out p 2

remember that negative space is the key- 'lighting the way' is nice and eerie, but would gain more dynamic mystery if the horizon and light post were more off-center.

the eye needs space to move naturally across the photo to create tension/emotion- beautifully achieved in 'freeze in motion'- do you see how the eye moves up the body of the player and to the basket, creating a sense of motion? awesome!

as for sexy chicks, there must be some local artsy-fartsy gallery you can start hanging out in. networking is essential.

    :)

    Re: nifty pics

Wow...thanks! Freeze Frame is one of my personal favorites...it took a little prepping to get "just right." ;)

It's funny u mention art galleries, as I have joined up with a new just recently and for my contributions (organizing a poetry group) I'll be rewarded with a little space for my work. Hence why I'm asking for help deciding which are objectively my better works. :D

    Eye,

Great stuff all around, which we have kinda discussed. :)

Blissgirl has made some awesome comments. :)

    MY .02:
I love "A Fair Warning" as I am a big fan of signage, and photographs of signage.
"Chair Shadows" is excellent, as I love watching shadows. You're appealing to my own personal sense of aesthetics!

"looking up on Royal Street" has such great perspective
"single gal just hanging out" really captures a sense of wit and humor, as is well compositioned (Ask for your to show you corey's photos sometimes--might be inspriation for stuff like this)

My friend Dug has taken many photos of dead trees in Arizona, and I really liked them, and as such, really appreciated the texture and the contrast in "The Peeling Tree"

"up close on the 1200" could be a thievery corporation album cover, and also the name of the album. Good sense of motion, GREAT composition. You really feel like you're right on top of the DJ... really involved, eh?

"yellow house of royal street" is a nice skecth of Southern, Victorian architecture.

"jackson on his horse" is also a great shot, capturing a good deal of what I feel is "quitessentially" Southern, as does "Cabilido Action"

But my two absolute favorites are "2 stories to tell on the corner" as a BRUTALLY nice sketch of architecture and "a red way to enter" which has a kind-of looming qualityt to its--lots of tension.

Anyway, my .02 turned into about 25 bucks. Sorry for the novel. Hope this helps.

he he he...no worries man...it's welcome...no matter how much!! ;)

so far it's looking like "up close on the 1200" is going to be a definite...which is surprising to me...didn't think it would go over that well... :D

Nope. I just thought that, because of the color and image quality, that maybe you did a bit of tweaking. :)

He11. That's makes the photos even more impressive IMHO. :)

ah...here's the deal...I did a little bit of color adjusting on some...like "Jackson on His Horse"...I wanted the blue sky to really shine...

but for most...I may have adjusted some levels a bit...the problem was I did batch scanning of the negs...and had to crop out each frame & save...got to be very time consuming...so I didn't bother with most...I figured whoever was going to download them for their own use would want to adjust them to their likings...;)

Very cool. In any case, you've done a wonderfully thorough job with this stuff. And your shots are all great too. Good Material + Proper Presentation = Success

(an old art teacher used to write that equation everywhere. :) )
