Here's my problem: I bought the Macbook in my signature the week they came out in Europe. Now I'm stuck in the US for a while and my Macbooks hase some serious hardware problems:

    1. Screen backlight has a loos contact. It's getting worse every time I move it
    2. Power goes off. When I boot it up just after it went off, it sometimes goes on and the power goes off even before the optical drive makes its sound. I usually have to wait a few hours before the mashine works long enough to backup the hard drive to an external

I know I cn get it repaired here in the US. But I don't have the original package of the Macbook and its original RAM with me. They both are across the Sea. What's likely to happen when I bring it to an Apple store here? I'm afraid they will give me a new Macbook with only 512MB in it. Can I give the Apple Guys the Macbook without any RAM in it for repair?

So I was wondering if there's someone in New Jersey who can borrow or sell me stock RAM from any Core Duo Mac (Macbook, Macbook Pro or iMac).

    Please help me.

Before you do anything, double check to make sure your RAM DIMMs are properly seated. Also look for any cracks or discoloration around the DIMM slots.

You really should not have any warranty issues with Apple as long as the DIMMS you purchased, meet or exceed Apple requirements.

Just take it in to your local Apple Store.

It sounds like your problems could be from something else.

My RAM is fine. I ran the mashine on either one of the sticks and the power problem remained. My fear is just that I won't get the RAM back once I give it to repair.

I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanx. It's comforting to read. I think I'll wait till September 12 just in case and then give them the Macbook to repair. Hope it doesn't take weeks.
