I want to find this search system for classic Mac web servers (WebStar, ASIP, etc...)

    According to apple:

I cannot find it anywhere, not even on Apple's web site! Anyone know where I can find it or have a copy?

    ftp://ftp.apple.com/research/eg :)
    (Here's an HTTP mirror)

I believe this is what you're looking for, though I don't have AppleShare IP to test it on. Reading over the Read Me seems to indicate that it is indeed what you're seeking.

I had a heck of a time tracking that one down. Who knew to check the root of Apple's ftp server first?! I checked various mirrors and whatnot to no avail. Some interesting findings here, here, and here (this one is the one I presume you came across in your quoted portion.) I'm not sure how far e.g. evolved, or if it evolved into AppleSearch.acgi, but I believe the items in that dir are beta products.

That was a fun little query, too, because I had no idea this even existed. I now learned that V-Twin was the foundation for Sherlock, and indeed Spotlight!
