Well, after 6 years of VW ownership, my streak has ended. I finally took the plunge, and thanks to a stellar credit rating was able to buy a Saab.

My VW build quality SUCKED and I would seriously tell people to stay away from the jettas.

The passats hold up better, as they're made in germany. But the jetta... man.

Anyway, I bought a Black Saab 93 Linear series.

I disagree. My mom's 1985 Saab 900S has been running almost perfectly for 18 years (that's older than I am  ). She bought it new in '85.

Congratulations on your Saab 9-3. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy ours.

    it's most definitely a turbo. :) 93 2.0t to be exact... i think it pushes 195hp.

They have one that does 275hp (in the 95). That *almost* made me cry.

i think this is gonna be the car to last me awile though... 3 years outta my old VW just didn't cut it. :)

The Linear goes for about $25,000 to $30,000. Check out http://www.saabusa.com for more info.

hehe. y'all can drive in it. :) it listed for 27500 and i got it for just over 26000

No sunroof... which is the only thing i'll really miss. but the couchlike leather seats more than make up for it. :)

plus, with all that speed, i'd hate for the aerodynamics to be fubared by a big hole in the roof. ;)

Excellent choice!! I've been trying to get my mom to get a Saab, as I'm positive it would be the perfect car for her.

Also, I've heard nothing about wiring problems in a Saab before....

I know a guy that just got a Saab Aero, and he loves it. I'm sure you'll do the same.

    Have fun!

    wiring problems

    I guess it depends.
Between various friends & family I have known 5 Saab owners, including myself (1983 900).
All of them eventually had problems with the rear lights not working correctly.
Put on the brakes and the turn signal light would come on, that kind of thing.

Newest was 1989 or 1990, before they were bought by GM and before the 9-3 replaced the 900 series.

So, hopefully the new ones are better at that. :(

However, even with those problems, I would buy one again. Sporty, best factory steering wheels I have ever handled, great handling, just smooth cars.

    Congrats!

Im wondering if you checked out the Infiniti g35 Sedan... Since you got the 4 door. I just bought a fully Loaded Coupe and its just such a blast to drive around.

The Sedan comes with 260 HP and you can get a manual tranny also.

Either way , sweet ride I like that car in black

How's the torque steer? Torque steer is the main reason I refuse to buy another FWD car (at least one that actually has horsepower).

Congratulations moxiemike on your new Saab. I hope the black won't be too warm for you in PA! ;) Our local PBS WGBH gives away a Saab at auction due to a donation. They always bid up at the end so not too much of a saving. Just the satisfation of helping PBS!

    Congrats, Mike!

    Nice car! :D

However, why'd you ever want to get such a good looking car when you could settle for something REALLY different, like, say... uh, a Yugo? Or a Gremlin? Heh! j/k! :D

Hope you have a blast! :D

Maybe you and Dukestreet should have a race since you both got new cars recently? :D
