New cheaper, faster iBooks released

    The site's up now.

    While even the 12" will still set you back ~US$1500 (plus tax) once you throw in AppleCare and some must-have additions, I think the iBook is now an even better deal. I think these will sell well, even in the base configuration.

    Students can get a CD-ROM version for $899. Well, that's $899 for 256MB. I suspect that even most students will go for the Combo drive + an additional 256MB, minimum. Still, students can get a 512MB Combo drive version with Bluetooth and AppleCare for US$1267 plus tax. Nice deal. Barely over a US$1K without AppleCare and BT for a nicely usable laptop.
