Hi, I'm new to the forum so this topic may be covered elsewhere, if so apologies.
I have a 12" 800MHz G3 iBook running 10.2.8. A few months back my combo drive died. I since replaced the dead Sony CRX 820E drive with a Sony CRX 800E I got on ebay.
I installed the new drive myself and it will now read discs but not write. It shows up as the correct name on the Disk Utility but it says its staus is read only.
I have downloaded Patch something (I forgot the name - i'm at work) from a german website and that says everything is fine - the drivers are there.
Is there anything I can do to make this work? Am I being stupid?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
