I can't remember seeing anything about Apple delving into the home automation market, but I think they would be wise to be very proactive in this field. ZigBee looks like it will be what replaces the current X10 standard. Apple has greatly expanded its fan base by embracing standards, and being the first major manufacturer to integrate this technology would give them the same advantage they got when they debuted AirPort. Currently, home automation (on a budget) is a mesh of clunky systems rigged together to make an acceptable product. Apple could design a home automation app that would blow everything else away! They could also make a healthy profit selling "iControls" for all of your home automation needs. This seems like a market in which many would be interested, but few currently are due to lackluster offerings. Come on, Apple, wow us!
