Hi. I've been a Mac user for years, and wouldn't go back for anything. I've seen the rest, and know the best.

My first computer was a Kaypro word processor. Then I had some other, horrible PC, the name of which, I have permanently removed from my memory. I was introduced to the Mac when I worked at a mortgage company, that was run entirely on Macs.

My first Mac was a 128k, and I've had several desktop models and two powerbooks, since then. It's a regular Mac museum around here.

Currently, I am using an iMac Ruby and a newer iMac G4. Even with two iMacs, competition for computer time is high, with a husband and four kids who also love Macs!

My mother has an iMac G4 also, but my father was convinced by some idiot friend, (oops-not supposed to say idiot - but in this case...forgive me, please. That's the nicest word I can think of!) that Macs are just "toys" and that the only "real" computers are PC's. So he bought a Sony Vaio, which I have to deal with in order to help him.

I've been very surprised by the amount of trouble I've had with System 10 and it's upgrades, including Jaguar. I've never had any problems with Macs that I couldn't figure out on my own, but this is perplexing. So, I will try not to be a pest, but I will probably be asking a few tech questions.

A friend just told me about this forum today, so I haven't really taken the time to read a lot yet, but I will, just in case my questions have already been answered.

    :)

    Welcome!

The nice thing about these forums is that its pretty much assured that someone has had to deal with any problem you might have.

Just go right ahead and post a problem in the tech discussions......

    Thanks!

(And thanks for not mentioning that I actually DID put this in the wrong place after all! I must have hit "New Thread" instead of "Reply". Sorry.)

you're not the first person to start a "hello MR" thread, so don't worry about that.

So I'm guessing this was supposed to be in the new members thread? ;)

    No worries...

My first post was a smartass comment about how someone's iBook was turning into a G5 after mentioning a "cheese grater" pattern developing on the lid. :D

    Thanks, all!
Yes, I meant it to go in the "New Members" thread. It's good to know I'm not the only one to make that dumb mistake.

Hahaha-I don't drink when they get to be too much...I out-smart them into going somewhere, (ANYWHERE), without me!

I love the sigs! "To see tomorrow's PC, look at today's Macintosh." Perfect!

I heard about this forum from a friend who saw it on a big forum index somewhere. I can find the link if you want.

Edited to add: It was on the list at this site: http://www.big-boards.com/

It was almost at the end of the list, about 20 from the bottom.
