    My parents MIGHT buy me a new Mac(i would sell my iMac to help pay or give it to my brother)

    PowerMac G5 w/ New Screen(not sure if i'd go Apple or Dell Screen put ur input on that too)

    * 2GHz Dual-core PowerPC G5
    * 512MB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM - 2x256(plus 512 of Crucail RAM)
    * 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
    * NVIDIA GeForce 6600 LE 128MB SDRAM
    * AirPort Extreme + Bluetooth built-in
    * 16x SuperDrive double-layer (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    * Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse - U.S. English
    * Mac OS X - U.S. English

    Total Price-2400+Tax+ either Apple 20'' Screen making it 3100 or Dell Screen making 3000

    Or PowerMac G5 using older display
    * 2.3GHz Dual-core PowerPC G5
    * 512MB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM- 2x256(plus 2 512Mb sticks and a 256Mb)
    * 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
    * NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB SDRAM
    * AirPort Extreme + Bluetooth built-in
    * 16x SuperDrive DL (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    * Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse - Western Spanish
    * Mac OS X - U.S. English

    Total 2882+tax

    So what do you think i should go with? Which Screen would you go with?

    Thanks

    I would get the Dual 2.0Ghz and upgrade the graphics card to the normal 6600 and get the new display...with the money you save you can also upgrade the ram.

    2.0 dual core, 2 GB third party RAM and either the Apple 20" or Dell 2405FPW
    24" display $800 edu. GPU upgrade if needed.

    This would be a great solid system and plenty powerful to hold you through
    the Core Wars storm looming on the horizon.
