Today Toshiba announced a 17'' notebook computer. All things considered it is a powerful machine at a reasonable price (dramatically cheaper than the 17'' powerbook), but it is HUGE! Below are comparison dimensions

    Toshiba 17'' Notebook:
    Width- 16.4''
    Depth- 11.5''
    Height- 1.8''
    Weight- 9.9lbs

    Apple 17'' Powerbook:
    Width- 15.4''
    Depth- 10.2''
    Height- 1.0''
    Weight- 6.8lbs

Yes, thats right, (in terms of volume) Toshiba's 17'' notebook is more than twice as big as Apple's and weighs almost 50% more!

Slightly over the top maybe? The difference is only 3.1lbs, not exactly "50%".

Anywho....you're right, it's still pretty big, I'll take the AlBook please! :D

Actually, 3.1lbs is 45.6% heavier than the PowerBook, so, "almost 50%" seems pretty accurate :)

Anyway, Toshiba is going to have to try a bit harder to beat Apple's 17" beauty. I mean, it is $1300 cheaper, but it's also $1300 uglier ;-)
