    Description:: There is a new trojan horse for the Mac OS X platform. The Trojan, named Troj/MacSwp-B (also known as Imunizator), tries to scare Mac users into purchasing unnecessary software by claiming that privacy issues have been discovered on the computer.

    Social engineering people. Use some common sense in what you click and download. Move along now before the Mac virus scare.

    The problem is...people aren't sure what to do and fall for it. Happens all the time on the Windows side. Apple needs to make it so this doesn't become a common thing. They need to get off their OS X is more secure high horse and shape up or else it will won't be any better than Windows XP in the long run.

    That screenshot in the article looks like something from Windows XP. It just doesn't look like an OSX application. That alone would tip me off. But then, the GP might not catch that....

    I had an alert box pop up on me the other day from Cleared away the browser window I was looking at and brought up an alert box with the Safari icon and a bunch of text about how I really need a malware scanner...

    Now that most websites outsource their advertising management all kinds of stuff can get vectored through the inset ads and the host site is none the wiser.

    Had something similar last week,one of the students decided to try this free virus scanner add,BAM everything froze,managed to get out of it.Re-started the PC there it was again,in the end i spent the rest of the afternoon
    re-installing XP and all the crap that goes with it. YAY M$

    Why didn't you just put the PC in the trash where it belongs and raise a req for an iMac? C'mon people! This is a war of attrition! When you have a perfectly legitimate reason to bin a PC, you fix it?! ;) :D
