newbe apple question... maintance/system scans.... you need to do them?

    just made the switch, and im not sure how this works for the apple. i know i dont have to worry about blue screens of death, spyware and viruses. but what about overall maintance of my ibook g4, do i run any maintance programs or system scans (if so where are they located?). second are there any ticks/tips anyone has on computer maintance....keeping this ibook running smooth? thanx

    Hmmm...not really much you need to do. I think repairing permissions is something you should do every now and again. You can do that in Disk Utility. Just spotlight it. Great program.

    Running Repair Permissions should be run before and after installation of siftware.

    If your iBook is on 24/7 the Mac OS runs a repair/maintenavce program on its own.

    I also us System Optimizer X for maintenace of my Mac.

    Yeah, im a pc user, and people say its recommended to defragment ur hard drive, can u do that on Os X, better yet, do u even have to when u have a mac?
    AND does disk utitly mean defragmenting?
