The "moo" is a description of a noise that some CPU fans in the MacBooks may make.

The whine is a similar sound, but in Mac Book Pros.

Both are abnormal, but do occur in some production models.

The whine is a constant high pitched whine. It's hard to describe without hearing it, but it is much higher pitched then the "moo" and is constant.

Not every computer Moos. I find it to happen for me occasionally when I am out of a city, with a CD in the superdrive, often one for windows with boot camp, battery less than 50%, screen on 51% or greater, and 10% or less CPU work. I also get a "half moo" occasionally. It goes away when I have iTunes playing and everything else is in the condition (and I know it's not just the music drowning it out ;) ).

Yes, welcome. Hope you enjoy it here.

Another word of warning. Proofreading and spellchecking your posts helps to make your message clearer to others. "nw', "gt", "waht", "no", "itts" can be deciphered but "now", "get", "what", "know" and "it's" are pretty obvious.

And don't forget to have fun!

I have a macbook, no whine, but last night it 'mooed' for the first time... I'm PRETTY sure the moo is just the fan, and it only happends when it gets really hot...

Mine had been on for about 3 hours, then i decided to take it to bed.. then the moo happened... I was surfing, and aMSN open... a couple tabs of each and it was mooing... off and on.. nothing i couldnt stand, it has never done it on a desk or even when i put it in bed on top of a book.. i would say only with bad ventilation and high high heats..

    good luck

You can write how you want, but I gaurantee a more elogeuntly written question would have gotten much better response.
