Newbie Dude

    I just got my first mac in 10years--help-- its a G4 laptop . Its comming back to me,somethings, but how do I load programs like Ad-awareSE, or Avast antivirus??:cool:

    Adaware is a windows thing.

    as is anti-virus.

    You don't need any of these programs, your Mac won't get spyware, ad-ware and viruses.

    What kind of laptop did you get? iBook or Powerbook? You really don't have much to worry about when it comes to viruses etc.

    Congrats and welcome to the forums. Nice to see another Oregonian on the boards (don't let the Oakland thing fool ya). Apple has a great little "I just switched from Windows, what the hell is going on?" page: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/

    Some of it might be old to you, most probably new, so take a look. And as others have said, welcome to the light side.

    Post your specs so folks know what you're dealing with; include processor speed, RAM, disk size (and speed), optical info, OS.

    No, not really. You've got a bunch of stuff to learn ;). Just search the forums for your answers... if you don't find your answers - make a new thread if it's really necessary.

    We all learn these things!
