i have no idea how to capture video from my sony dcr-trv240 digital video camera....

can anyone give me advice as to what cords/apps to use on my macbook?

i have a usb cord hooked up right now but no programs will recognize it as being connected, so i am lost. there is a 'usb streaming' sticker on the camera side haha so i figured it'd work.

any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    USB streaming is pc-only...

you need a 4pin to 6pin firewire cable, connect it to the computer, put the camera in VCR/VTR mode and then use iMovie, Final Cut Express, or Final Cut Pro to capture.

The USB is probably for pictures taken and will work for streaming over a pc. Firewire is much faster and mac apps will only reconize it as a video camera if you connect it via firewire (4-6pin) and away you go. The rest will be easy. (oh and make sure to turn on the camera for playback mode :p)
