"US values" have no place in dictating US foreign policy.

Just ask Saddam in the 80s

Ah yes, and where are the morally outraged on the right who insist that we needed to go to war with Iraq because Saddam tortured and killed his own people? They're allowing the Bush administration a free pass on this one, that's where. Along with all the other human rights abusing nations like SAUDI ARABIA that we work with closely. The level of hipocrasy would be amusing if the subject wern't so serious.

How's China's record on human rights BTW? And what does MFN stand for again?

This is EXACTLY why I kept saying that those using moral arguments to justify the Iraq war had no leg to stand on. There were other arguments that could have been made, but invariably, pro-war supporters came out and said "he was a brutal dictator."

Yeah? So? So is N. Korea's Dictator. So was Saddam in the 80's when we supported him. So was the government of Iran when we helped install them. We have no moral arguments left in these matters. We have continually used dictators when it was to our advantage, ignoring the plights of the people they ruled. In light of the past transgressions and our continuing tendancy to ignore human rights violations when it suits our need, moral arguments look VERY thin.

    Good points taft.

This story is really something we should be seeing on the main news channels and I want people at the pentagon having to answer difficult questions live on TV about this. But is that going to happen, and why not?

This is the sort of thing the 'land of the free' has been doing all the time since world war II and its got to stop, NOW!!!!!!

This is something mankind has been doing sense the dawn of time. I don't think the US deserves completely credit.

Just because everyone else is doing it is no excuse. Didn't your parents teach you that?
