I love the new 'no ad for a week' ad by MSN. I don't know what they're smoking, but as far as I'm concerned the banner on the main page is an ad. It advertises MSN for Mac, and links to it.

Does m$ think us Mac users are stupid or something???

    Well, it eliminates pop-up's too.

Be kind to the sponsors of this site... :)

Do they just pay a flat rate for the week since they are discouraging anybody from clicking on it? I know I browse the ads ocassionally. I heard that the site gets something like a nickle a click. But I could be wrong.

At least all of the ads are sometimes interesting and pertain to site interests.

Advertisments can run a range from impressions delivered to clicks delivered, or some combination of both.

As always, I only encourage you to visit and support the ads/sites that interest you.

I would call it brilliant. They have succeeded in their goal, we have noticed the ad, we are discussing the ad, some of us are clicking on the ad.

    Argh... You're right...

But you tend to notice really bad ad's too. These days, I don't think it's really a matter if the ad is seen, but if it's clicked.

If Microsoft really wanted blank space, they would've made it a white box, that just linked to their website...

The ad still reaks of microsoft, though. They claim it's not an ad, but in all reality, it is. This should be used in any court cases against microsoft. If they can't understand the concept of an ad, how are they supposed to understand the concepts of an operating system? (oh wait, they don't need to, Apple does all the work...)

    Haha that is sad.

You mind telling us if this is a per-click ad or a flat ad, I'd click a billion times if it is per-flick!

Then you get $10. (Joking, per-click ads are like .01 cent a click)

Actually, I think it's quite clever of an ad. It's simply stating there are no ads to interupt your viewing enjoyment; it's an effective way to sway a few viewers to wanna check out their product. ;)

Web ads used to be by the month, or by the click, but then I heard they were by page view. Arn doesn't want to give out the secret... Just remember to refresh your browser every minute or two because, ah, ... you never know when some new rumor or news item might suddenly appear! Yeah! :D

If you really want to support the site... let the popups appear.

    of course... :) But I still haven't created the 2003 item. :(

but I think people don't understand that turning on pop ups supports this site far more than just clicking on as many ads as they want.
