Ouch. I hope it's at least the same warmth as a current yonah chip in the next macbook.

zzBoG - Santa Rosa will provide for a faster fsb - even more heat??

I have been holding out for Merom but it appears to be somewhat of a wash regarding the performance / heat envelope. My latest thinking is to go ahead with a Yonah based MBP in a couple of weeks and be done with it.

That said - will Apple redesign the MBP cooling system to tone down the heat complaints? I guess / hope we will all know the answer w/i weeks.

Ugh. So now we're going to have to entertain more silly threads about Merom (btw, why is everyone so fixated on Merom? I don't get it) and why it won't actually be in any Mac.

    Wonderful.

Intel chips have always been power-hungry, although they are much better now than they used to be. When so many people on this board were eargerly anticipating the Yonah chips and assuming they would be cooler than an iBook or Powerbook G4, I tried to caution them that this is not likely considering the history of Intel, but they wouldn't listen. I realize that the change to Intel was almost mandated for several reasons, but low power/heat in a laptop is not one of them. Please don't believe all of the marketing hype, because it is just that.
