    No More Nerd Abuse

    To Nerd Abuser

Us nerds are just about sick of being mistreated because we happen to have greater knowledge of technology than those of you who seek help from us and happen to be willing to help occasionally. not the say that we have problems with helping people but no one likes being taken advantage of.

We the undersigned request that you use your common sense and logic and make at least one attempt to solve your technical issues before seeking assistance (would it really hurt you to just read a manual? honestly).
We also highly dislike being called at inconvenient times and being asked to walk someone though an issue over the phone when they are not even listening!
We also request that you stop inviting us to your homes and asking us to "just have a look" at something, we frankly dont care about your issue and if you invite me around for dinner we expect to be feed.

failure to met our requests will lead to a new generation of unfriendly nerds.

Apparently so  I could see this new found freedom leading to an overpopulation of these nerd things...

    NERRRRRRDS!

Actually, there is a subtle but important difference between nerds and geeks... geeks are into computers, but are still social people. Most people here are geeks. Nerds, on the other hand, are usually not very social.

I am a geek, and proud of it.

Isn't that what Apple Store openings are for? For nerds to meet, hit it off, and (Eventually) carry on the nerd-chromosome?

....I may have gone to that opening for the wrong reasons... O:)

This was the theme of a once-legendary thread here on MR. The difference between them and us... :D

Too lazy to find it right now though.

Yes, it was indeed legendary. I'm sad I missed it.

But like all good legendary threads, Doc has locked it.

I really don't care if people think I'm a nerd or a geek. I certainly don't go around bragging about it. Being a nerd or a geek seams to just be a stereotype these days.

I've never been called a nerd or geek before.

I have however been called an "Apple Guy" which really pisses me off.

Does it sometimes go like this:

"Ohhh, you're an Apple guy.....interesting." Then some slight laughter would usually follow.

Oh, when I'm called "apple girl" it's usually followed by "what iPod should I get?" "Should I get a Mac Mini?" "will you help me switch from Windows ot Mac?"

They know which one is better, I get no laughter at being the "apple girl"

..except for when I start to go on about taking Peter Oppenheimer's job.

    I'LL GET YOU JOB, OPPENHEIMER!
