I'd like to play my Sirius Radio through my g5 iMac. I've plugged a mini from the headphone out of the radio into the mini audio in the iMac, but am not getting any sound.

I can see it's receiving something, as it's getting a nice level from the input meter on the Sound Control Panel, but no sound is coming out. I'm still getting sound from the computer (alerts, iTunes, web, etc), but no sound from my radio is coming though the computer.

Switching the outputs from my Soundsticks to the computer speakers doesn't change anything.

    Any suggestions?

I'm bumping my own question, just giving it one last chance.

I'd like to be able to play sound from an external device (in this case a radio) through my G5 iMac at my desk.

I've plugged a mini cable from the headphone outs to the audio in (I believe - the very top input on the iMac, below that is for headphones). I've switched the input from microphone to the audio-in port in the System Preferences. I can see it's getting a level, but I'm not getting a sound. I'm otherwise getting sound from iTunes and the like.

I feel like there might be some thru-switch somewhere, but I can't figure it out. Maybe one isn't supposed to do this with an iMac?

    Any thoughts?

I've done this is the past, but I've always used Audio Hijack set to record. I can't confirm right now but it may be that you need to have an application like Audio Hijack set to record before you will hear the radio. If you have Garageband you could try it, or Audacity

The sound is coming into your computer okay, but Macs are not set to play sound from a line input through to the speakers by default. What you want is something like this:

I just tried Garageband, but you can only hear the track after you've recorded. You can't pause/record and hear the input.
