I just had some quick questions to ask about iTunes and MP3 players. I had an Nomad Muvo MP3 player I used to use in the house and decided to use it as only a USB flash drive. When I plugged it into my iMac, it showed up in the source with a symbol of a gadget that resembles a phone. It may be the symbol of the ROKR, but i'm not sure. Do other MP3 player brands do this as well or is it because it's a USB flash drive as well?

Previous versions of iTunes could. I kept resisting the itunes updates for a while.

Itunes 8 shows it as Nomad Muvo. Mine, in this case is a creative Zen Stone. More recent i-tunes versions don't detect it. So, if you are not forced to update, you can keep itunes 8.
