iOS noob question (writing a contacts application)

so I just started to program for the iPhone. I've created the sample helloworld application, given by apple. But what I wanted to create is an application like the contacts, but be able to change what the tabs say, not in the application but in Xcode (3.1) then once the tab is tapped I want to be able to add some unedifable text.

And I want to create an app that solves world hunger.

I'm afraid you're going to have to take the time to learn some things, and study more than just one example. After that, why not ask specific questions like: how do I do x in a UITableView. Asking a really broad generic question isn't going to get you any results
