So we talk to nuclear powers and threaten to blow non-nuclear countries back to the Stone Age.

Is it any wonder that there are so many 'Rogue Nations' trying to acquire nuclear wepons?

Any nation who believes that nukes are anything BUT a deterrent, has a HUGE other thing coming.

    Example:

Iran dont like Israel, and I am sure would love to demonstrate their prowess by nuking the Gaza Strip.

Problem with that, is the prevailing winds and close proximity to the blast, which pretty much leaves Iran, and the rest of the Middle East with a huge radioactive cloud and everything that comes with it.

Only when the US and Russia were at it during the Cold War did actual bombs falling make sense. It would be difficult for a bomb from RU to hit the US and actually have any effect on RU, it being across the globe.

N Korea, Iran, everybody who hates someone else, seems to forget that their "enemies" are a little close for nuclear comfort.

Posturing and politics is all anything nuclear is these days.

It'll be interesting to see how many of the righties who villified Clinton for this deal will sign on to this and trumpet NK's reactor shutdown as a Bush foreign policy success.

On the flip side, many of the GOP base will not be happy with this deal specifically because they've taken it as Gospel for so many years that Clinton was weak and foolish to make a deal with North Korea.

Not that the GOP won't engage in doublespeak to tell us why it was bad when Clinton did it, yet good when Bush does it, but they really paint themselves into a corner by using these attacks which are effective in the short term, but detrimental in the long term.

Well, at least NK got what it worked so hard to extort from the rest of the world. Rattle sabres, get money and fuel oil. Nice.

I'll withhold my jumping for joy until I hear how the verification process is going to work.

The only verification will be whether or not the fuel oil arrived safely.

I always thought the six-party talks were the way to go. Not allowing North Korea to wriggle out of the regional negotiations and insist on dealing directly with the U.S. is actually one thing the Bush administration got right, IMO. It should also be duly noted that patient diplomacy produced more results than saber-rattling. What a revelation!

Hey, the same could be said for the US!

Now we now how you feel about the US, nothing more than a blackmailing disturber of the peace.

Seems we know a bit more of how you feel about the US than how I feel about it.

When were those peaceful times in the Middle East again? My knowledge of history doesn't go back that far.

Political extortion has been the modus operandi of the US since the end of WWII. More lives have been effected by oppressive US policies than have ever been by a few desert sheiks.

The Right is trying to make an issue out of the fact that Obama has the butts habit. FOX has already called it his "dirty little secret" (thought it's no secret at all), and has run stories plastering his face over packs of Marlboros and asked "would you vote for a president who smoked?"

    Kool.

The thing is I don't give a crap if he smokes or not. I'd still vote for him even if he lit-up while addressing the nation. Just thought it was a funny picture. You assumed, didnt you.

    Isnt this thread about NK?

I assumed nothing. Then again, I figure probably almost nobody who doesn't do steady diet of FOX even knows about this "funny picture." Is that too much of an assumption?

    It was, at one time.

Actually the picture in my avatar isnt the one on FNC. I think you may be hard pressed to find a photo of Obama with a cancer stick in his mouth. I think this is kinda rare.
