I've got an NTSC DVD which I need to play on a PAL DVD player (a PlayStation 2 mini, actually). I seem to remember that the last time I did something like this, it played but the picture was black and white. Am I remembering it right, and how can I fix that? Is there a program that will convert it?

I have no experience of the PS2 but Is the PS2 plugged into you tv via a SCART lead? if it is going to the TV via the RF or RCA lead you might have a problem.

If you have a Mac you can RIP the DVD using Handbrake

If you RIP it at a the highest quality then burn it using TOAST as a PAL DVD it should work. You will get some quality loss as the RIPed file isnt a good as the original DVD file.

You may get some quality improvement if you convert the RIPed file to a PAL file using QT pro / Compressor / Cleaner, before burning it in TOAST.

No, Handbrake will rip to MP4, and you can then re-encode this MP4 as the appripriate DVD (PAL/NTSC) using Toast or iDVD.
