Hi guys, in a few days I'll be buying a macbook (w/ stock RAM) and I've been on the look out for cheap third-party RAMs from vendors. I found a deal for OCZ RAM (1 gig PC5300 yada yada) for 69.99 at my local outpost. It's about 5 bucks cheaper than the G Skill sold on Newegg. I was wondering tho about the vendor reliability anyone willing to comment?

No idea how that particular stick with work with your machine, but most enthusiasts like OCZ...it started out as an enthusiast/overclocker brand I believe.

I have used Corsair ValueSelect ram in a G5 and never had any problems.
I know Crucial is recommended highly also but you'll pay a premium for their brand name over everyone else.

OCZ - yeah it's a gamer/overclocker enthusiast company; I don't know how well their ram works in Macs but check out their warranty (and the warranty of the retailer where you purchase the ram) before you buy it so you can send it back if it doesn't work. You might want to try NewEgg and look at some reviews to see if anyone mentions putting it into a Mac or not and whether it worked. (That's what I did with the Corsair.)

I know Corsair has a lifetime warranty on their ram; just something to consider. I love Corsair...I've put their ram in 4 Windows machines and the 1 Mac G5 and never had one problem.

I concur, all the PC heads who I work with (who also happen to be gamers) love OCZ. Enough so that I'm getting it when I build my gaming PC in the next couple months. However, Macs are notorious about being RAM picky, so I'm not sure if it will work correctly for you or not.

Macs might be picky, but so are PCs when you start overclocking them....YMMV though....so...
