sometimes when i play a song i get this odd "popping" noise...its usually when im listening to my headphones, but its not the song because when i move the slider back to before the popping happened, the sound is gone...so its not the song thats bad, and i dont think its the headphones since ive listened to my ipod on them and i never got the noise there and they are uber-ultra high fi headphones...... my only other guess is something with itunes itself, or my headphones are picking up some type of internal sound from the computer? but it doesnt sound like the CPU's chirping noise or a hard drive spinning....its almost as if i were listening to a cd and there was a small scratch on it....i dont know what else to try

FWIW. Your interference idea is a definite possibility, but I doubt it's something in the PB.

I "hear" my crappy Nokia GSM phone negotiating as I cross cell boundaries in my car. This sounds a bit like popcorn popping and gets picked up and amplified by the Belkin Auto Kit.

Solution. Place the cell phone far away from the iPod or Auto Kit.

Yes the phone is on but not in use.

I've come to recognize the sounds as the phone checking in/negotiating with the base station, which it will do periodically when on, regardless of whether you are making a call or not.

It's most obvious when driving on the freeway as you tend to cross cell boundaries and the phone needs to check in often.
