So I popped in the OS X disc that came with my eMac (700Mhz) and booted my Mac through the disc. My intention is to format the hard drive and start new with only OS 9, so I ran Disk Utility. I could click on the partition and erase it, but the option to install Mac OS 9 drivers was grayed out. I then tried to click on the actual hard drive...but then Disk Utility unexpectedly quits and brings me back to the OS X install screen.

FYI, I cannot just install OS 9. I have to install OS X first, and then run a 3-CD software restore thing.
