I'd really like to get Quake 3 for my Mac, but I can't find a Mac version of it anywhere.

However! I have found the PC version in a Jewel Case at my local wal-mart for $10. Would it be possible to get that and convert the files somehow?

    Thanks.

I think its something like you just have to download the latest OS.X point release and just put the .pak files from the disk into the right folders. Q3 gold is for mac but it might even be classic. not sure though.

yes...i did this for the pc...buy the quake 3, install it on a PC, then burn all the .pk3 files to a disc, which they all should be in a baseq3 folder...transfer them into your mac, download Q3 1.32 patch for your mac, install it somwhere, now put the baseq3 folder in the same folder as Q3 1.32 patch and play!...should work, tell me if it doesnt...

Better yet, I can just put the files on my network's shared folder.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a shot soon.

Okay, well, the game starts, but whenever I try to browse some online games using the in-game browser, Q3A crashes on the spot.

When I bought Quake 3 it was a hybrid version.

    Thanks,

And I tried a different update. (God knows there's a billion and a half) and it works now, so, whatever.

Anyway, can anyone reccomend some mods? What was that one that everyone mentions that is similar to Counterstrike?

There is Truecombat, Urban Terror, and some Navy Seal mod that are nice military games.

I enjoy Bid For Power, the Dragonball Z mod. Tons of fun!
Of course, Rocket Arena is fun too. It tends to make you better in regular deathmatches.

Excesive is a cool mod that makes all the weapons overpowered. Very cool!
