Am fairly new to this Mac lark so bear with me. I keep finding lots of freedownloads of my old favourite Amiga games but they only seem to be for PC. How can I play these / make them work? (seem to be able to download them okay...) Can anyone direct me to a good website for Mac versions of old Amiga games? Oh to be able to sit and play Cannon Fodder one more time...

I think you want this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/maxuae

Mmmmm....I wouldn't mind another go at Shadow of the Beast. But who am I kidding? I'd still get killed way instantly. :( Oh, and anyone remember the MechForce/BattleMech/whatever-they-kept-changing-the-name series of shareware BattleTech-inspired games? I wasted so much time on those! :D

MaxUAE is dead and buried. What you want is E-UAE used in conjunction with the GUI Hi-Toro.

Keep in mind that for newbies Amiga emulation on any platform can be a pain in the backside. It's nowhere near as simple as double-clicking ZSnes and opening a ROM image.

For remakes which will run without emulation try www.remakes.org - mostly PC games, but the best ones tend to get ported to Mac.

Visit www.ctspgames.com for an excellent Tanks update.

There are a few Sensi clones around. I don't know if they're available for the Mac though.

As far as I know Cannon Fodder has never been remade.

Silkworm was a real classic. Many of the best Amiga games allowed you to team up with a friend co-op style. SWIV, the sequel to Silkworm is another good example.

WinUAE worked like a dream, alright it took me a while to get used to it (as previously said, you cant just double click a Rom -although theres no reason you shouldnt be able too, once its all set up right). alas i havnt tried it yet on Mac, i think i searched for an emulator a while ago. but now i just tend to play the real thing. keep my Amiga 600 hidden away under the TV, the little Commodore shrine :D

good luck to you. the Amiga was a truly fantastic piece of kit.

I remember a game called "NY Warrior" for the Amiga. It was an excellent game and reminded me of the Escape from NY movie. Other really good names as Archon that looked like a Chess Game with characters fighting like from the movie Star Wars. I can't remember the other games but I mostly remember my Amiga using DPaint, AmigaVision, and AudioMaster III.

I wish I saved all that stuff. I miss that 7 Mhz beast with 5 Mbs of Ram and 80 GBs of disk space, and XT bridgeboard that ran all that software along with PC-DOS crap.

I used to like Blood Money. Way to easy to die though.

This gives me an intense desire to play Double Dragon II, all of a sudden. Which, I think, is exactly what I'm going to do.
