Just got my new MacBook Pro yesterday, what an awsome machine...cept for that one black spec near the middle of the screen. Would you

    1) Keep it, and ignore it
    2) Return it to MacConnection (and pay a restocking fee)
    3) Take your chances with taking it to the Apple Store

Hmm... had the same issue here. Being an imaging pro, that one pixel was really annoying me. One thing I had, however, is that immediately to the right of the dead pixel there appeared to be a slight alpha shift- i.e. the pixels appeared darker than the rest of the screen. I called up Apple, and after looking for a web article on the issue, they told me to go to the Apple Store and speak with a genius. I went there, explained the problem, and the first response I got was the standard- "we don't cover less than 5 pixels...but I'll give you the number to customer's relations...blah, blah, blah..." I told the guy that I was completely aware of Apple's policy, and that if it was just for that one pixel, I wouldn't even waste his time. I told him what concerned me was the alpha shift, and just to prove my point, I opened a white page, so he could get a closer look. He stared at it for a while, got on the phone to AppleCare, and within 15 minutes he was offering to either replace the whole laptop, or have my LCD repaired. I think the trick is to me nice, don't ask "what are YOU going to do about it," but rather "what can I do about it," be patient, but persistent, and take anything that they tell you with a big smile. I truly believe that had I gone there with guns blazing, I wouldn'd have gotten' anywhere. Hope this helps.

I feel a little silly, it only annoys me on a white background, like on a dialog background. Most of the time I am looking at movies, pics, or playing games, its generally not visible then. I might try and run it by and see what they say, but its likely a wasted trip for a non image pro like myself :)
