Hi, I am so excited, I just ordered my 24" iMac with the upgraded graphics card! The apple store says the estimated arrival date is Nov 2. Do they usually come early, or right on time (I really can't wait!).

I plan on upgrading the Ram when I get it to 3 gb. I work at Best Buy and get a nice discount on Ram in general, what kind is the best to get? I would have to get a 2gb stick and a 1 gb stick, right? Also, how hard is it to install yourself?

The other question I have is about the "switch." I have had windows forever and really know the ins and outs. I keep finding guides to OS X online, but I am looking for guides that have like, shortcuts and stuff like that in them.

And on Macs do you get to "name" your computer? If you can I am going to name it Big Mac, and my iPod Little Mac =)

the ram is super duper easy, just make sure the ram is designed for the intel core 2 duo imacs and not a regular pc. to install it, at the bottom of the screen there is this metal bit with holes all through it, in the center of it, unscrew that and away you go

congrats on the new imac. They usually come early applegives a worst case scenerio. THe ram is really easy to install (unscrew the screw on the bottom and pop it in) for the shortcuts most of them are badsicall the same as windows and the best way to learn is definatly hands on. Just sit down for a couple hours with a cup ofcoffee and a bar of chocolate and enjoy. and yes, you do get to name it what you want (and for more "visual results" rename the hard drive as well)

You may want to keep your RAM purchase to 2 X 1GB matched Apple guaranteed DIMMS.
Single 2 GB sticks are insanely expensive at the moment.

While you may be able to buy RAM through Best Buy, you must be careful
to buy RAM that is guaranteed Apple compatible for your beautiful new machine.

The collective experience of these forums strongly recommends that you purchase any third party RAM from datamem.com, OWC or Crucial .
Some users buy Crucial generic RAM from NewEgg, but NewEgg does not
    guarantee Apple compatibility.

MacRumors has a fantastic user guide section.
