my friend's having a problem with OS 9. since i'm far less familiar with OS 9 than OS X, i was wondering if someone here can help me out.

she adjusts her Mac's volume level using the control panel, but the Mac has problems remembering it. every time she re-starts her Mac, the sound volume reverts back to the pre-setting level.

is there an equivalent to preferences file in OS 9? could she trash that to possibly fix this problem?

any help is appreciated.

Yes and Yes, its called sound or system sound (its been a long time) its in the preferences folder within the system and trashing it and restarting would be a good idea.
