Apple today seeded the first beta of OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite to developers, just three days after releasing OS X 10.10.1 to the public.

The new beta, build 14C68k, is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store and should be available in the Mac Dev Center soon. The beta also includes Safari 8.0.2 and an update to the Mail app (version 8.2).

Like OS X 10.10.1, as a minor update, OS X 10.10.2 is likely to bring bug fixes and performance improvements to the operating system. OS X 10.10.1 introduced several reliability enhancements, including improvements to Wi-Fi, but many users have still been reporting issues with Wi-Fi stability in Yosemite.

Update: It appears that OS X 10.10.2 is causing the latest version of Google's Chrome browser to crash. Retina iMac owners are also seeing display issues with the beta.

Update 2: The Chrome/10.10.2 issue is related to the trackpad, and the crashing can be circumvented by using an external mouse and disabling the trackpad while the mouse is plugged in.

I'm just waiting for them to unlock the builds so I can re-image new hardware we receive with our yosemite corporate image... I find it ridiculous Apple locks out the OS from being applied to newer hardware... Because every new Yosemite Mac we get, we have to manually configure it...

it sucks... :(

Curious if there are any changes in the Accessibility menu such as selective translucency or a bold font option.

I bet it still doesn't fix the iOS to OSX Airdrop/Handoff/Instant Hotspot unreliability.

edit: Nope doesn't touch it - presumably this is just a wifi tweak, of which i've been having no issues anyway.

But where are the obligatory "downloading now!" and "x many MBs for y Mac!" comments?

I suppose that once they drop 10.10.2, I'll update to 10.10.1. I am currently knocks on wood not experiencing ANY WiFi issues on my MacBook Pro and would like to keep it that way. Until there are not as many people with WiFi problems, I'm no going to be updating...

This is kind of strange, but the speed of my Magic Mouse is now (very) noticable higher, even though the acceleration adjustment in settings haven't changed.

I have a bug where the MacBook Pro is docked in clamshell mode. Every so often it will totally shut off. When it restarts it says sleep/wake failure. Ive had this since the betas and submitted multiple bug reports. Apple fix this one! Take some time with 10.10.2 and make it solid please.

Do not install on retina imac

Seriously. Don't install this on a Retina iMac. Display resolution is off, and upon reboot it booted to a black screen.

Restoring from backup now.

What does apple use for QA methods? Because since my mbpr 2013 automatically updated to 10.10.1 the other day, I've been getting random reboots, GPU kernal panics and boot up crashes. I wish I had time machined it....... And don't ask me about the WIFi issues.. :fuming:

Never had any off these issues in previous os's on any of my macs before so not upgrading the Mac mini 2012 yet. Really

I think need a drink!

The first yosemite combo is also available for this build.

There is a direct link for the combo in apple's developer forums.

Don't put the link here though because it is against macrumors rules.

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to Yosemite - the biggest issue I now have is the speed of my machine (even after upgrading memory) - takes ages to do anything.

The other issue I now have after installing latest bug 'fix' is the volume keeps cycling on & off - which is not a huge issue except that the notification comes into the middle of the screen every 5 or 10 seconds (as you can imagine I'm a tad peeved).

HELP

If I knew how to revert back to 10.6.8 I would in a flash!!!!! - I'm only half kidding.

Wonder if it will be 10.10.2 or 10.10.3 that includes the new Photos app that they showed at WWDC.

I've just installed 10.10.2 on my Mac Mini. Now, for the first time in Yosemite, the tab switching animation in the About this Mac window is finally smooth.

Before you go and install this, take note of this point in the release notes:

Known Issue

- Opening documents from iCloud Drive might fail. Move files out of iCloud Drive to open them.

In other words, if you use iCloud Drive, maybe think twice before installing.
