I have a new C2D MBP and it's an amazing computer (i love it) - when I first got it - it flew, opening everything in seconds, however....now it seems to take a longer amount of time to boot up, open apps (firefox, etc)....is this common?

is there a way to tweak os x to make it "fly" again?

    thanks in advance!

Well, Firefox for starters is a slower Mac browser than the default browser, Safari. But aside from that, you probably have some PowerPC widgets or apps running somewhere. You could also check your ram usage in Activity Monitor (Applications -> Utilities)

Same here. I thought that it was subjective, but last night I opened a Mathematica help page and instead of the plots I saw a lot of messages 'wait for postscript to render' or something along those lines -- not a usual/expected thing at all. Today it actually froze when I tried to do a 'save as' in TeXShop.

I remember reading some post about clearing the caches, but I cannot find it.
