OSX Lan file transfer is it TCP or UDP?

If i transfer a file across my LAN from MBP to MBP does OSX use TCP or UDP to make the transfer?

The setup is :
MBP running Lion, the other snow leopard, and a time capsule 5ghz 802.11n

If you are using AFP, then it is over TCP. Same with SCP, SMB, or really any other likely protocol.

At it's simplest level you can think of TCP as slower, reliable and lossless and UDP as faster without guarantee of receipt.

TCP thus is good for moving files and UDP is good for streaming video.

However you can use UDP to build in your own TCP-like reliability.

How do you know which of those protocols (AFP,SCP,SMB) you are using?

Say copying desktop to desktop over a LAN on two Snow leopard Macs?

NFS uses UDP. Pretty sure TC uses AFP.

Well, NFS can use either UDP or TCP. But, most installs used TCP starting with NFSv3 which came out in 1995.
