I want to get everything I can off my office PC and onto my mac. I have looked high and low for a way to get my contatcs out of Outlook 2000 and into the Jaguar Address Book without having to export them as vCards 0ne at a time.

Does anybody know of any utilities or scripts that will convert CSV to vCard files. Or any other utility that would batch export vCards from Outlook?

There is one AppleScript in Jaguar for Outlook Express, but I couldn't get it to work with Outlook Files.

I am sure I'll have the same problem when iCal finally shows up...

    Thanks in advance...

    Utility

If you're trapped in PC land, this VB script worked for getting the vCards out in bulk. I'll let you know if the format works for getting them into the Address Book, my iPod and everything else.

    It Worked

The vCard file exported by the VBS scripts imported into Address Book perfectly.

I want to bump this post. This worked perfect for me from Outlook XP to Apple Address Book.

Great solution for all switchers out there.

    One Problem

The only problem I found, which was pretty minor was this; all the e-mail addresses and phone numbers got tagged as home contact information. I needed to change that, but it was quicker then exporting vCards one at a time.

Now all they need to do is make the address book work with .Mac so I can get the info from any machine, not just my iPod.

Here's a Manual way to do it

I had finished doing my manual process, just before this thread was started -- oh well.

Here's what I did and it retained all of the proper address labels (home, work, cell, etc.)

    Steps:
A - Get them out of Outlook
    1. From within Outlook, select File, Import and Export
    2. Select Export to a File, click Next
    3. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows), click Next
    4. Select your contacts folder, click Next
    5. Save it somewhere (I put mine on the desktop, easiest), click Next
    6. Click on Finish

B - Bring them into MS Address Book (a vCard standardized address book)
    1. Launch Microcrap's Address Book
    2. Select File, Import, Other Address Book...
    3. Select Text File (Comma Separated Values), click Import
    4. Browse... and select your file, click Next
    5. It displays field mappings, click on Finish

NOTE: at this point, it may display an error about certain e-mail addresses not being internet e-mails, then it doesn't import that address.

    6. When it finishes, click OK, and click on Close to get rid of the import file type window.

C - bring them into the real Address Book
Now, to get the addresses out of there in vCard format, select them all from the list in the Address book and drag them to your desktop or into an e-mail addressed to your Mac account (this is what I did).

When you get them on your Mac, drag and drop - it's all good!

These steps are all based on Windows 2000 and Outlook 2000. Therefore, the steps may vary depending on the versions you are running.

    Take care,
    Quark
