Packet Sniffer

    I am looking for a simple to use Packet Sniffer that works on OS X thats free.

    If there is not one, could you guys recommend the best one with clear instructions for installation, still free.

    i never could get ethereal to work. Haven't tried in a while though, just gave up and used it on my pc.

    try using fink or darwin ports (i thinks thats what it's called) to install

    i think Http Scoop is the best http sniffer for mac os i have ever used but it is not for free "14 days trail", this post may be too late but i did manage to make it free , if you still interested you can download it from here

    You can use CPA - Cocoa Packet Analyzer

    available here: http://www.tastycocoabytes.com/cpa/index.php

    While it has not all the features of Wireshark, it works natively on OSX and you can always export your traces for later analysis.

    Note: The preferences for packet coloring is quite well hidden...
