I both doubt it and hope that it's not released that soon - less than a year from when Jaguar was released? Yikes. Why did I spend the money last September on it?

If the Panther beta is any indication, Apple's got a long way before it should be installed on anything as the main OS.

i highly doubt it. panther is basically jaguar with a couple of new things added to it. i think on apple's calendar, end of year is march :)

Someone got their facts wrong, as I see it. Panther should be out mid-September. They just released their second beta to developers last Friday, and the reports are that it is very stable, so it looks like they are on track.

Yeah the second is much more stable, but it still is a few patches away from the offical version.

    Its not coming August.

The article says some of the iMacs are ready to go. This would mean that Panther's already gone gold master, which of course isn't the case. I'd have to say that the article's wrong. Either that, or they're using a beta OS!
