Hi All,
I formatted my external hard drive into 2 parts with some remaining space to format for later, well now i am unable to ONLY format that remaining space using disk utility, it wants to re partition everything when i click partition... i could do it using windows but i want a HFS+ partition!
Am i out of luck, am i going to have to re-partition everything using the disk utility just to get that free unparitioned space?

It's not formatting you need to do to use the extra space, its creating a partition in it... you left it unpartitioned. Disk Utility can't do it without repartitioning the whole drive. Maybe a Unix Guru here can give you a hand adding a partition non-destrucively.

Otherwise, you shoulda created the partition in the free space at the first and formatted it. You can always reformat later, but you cant (easily) repartition.
