In OS9 there was a password protect file option in one of the menus, in OSX, you could just put it in a password protected disk image.

Use Disc Copy and make a password protected disc image. Then toss the files into it.

you could also put it in one of your folders in your home directory if you have multi users if your not logged in no one can open your home folder, not even an admin, at least I dont think they can....
