In a couple PMs, it was suggested that I have a paypal donation link in my sig, to help fund my trip to Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague with my symphony.

I've thought about it, and woo, I'm gonna make one and stick it in.. unless it's against the MR rules. I've read it, and I can't find anything saying that it is against the rules...

Just to make sure I'm not breaking any rules, I thought I'd ask first. Getting banned from MR would NOT be fun.

Not sure if its against the rules, but you should be able to put a link in your signature. Its not like you would be forcing anyone to donate- and besides, it goes to a worthy cause.

Sounds right.. it's not like I'm trying to get people to join my iPod pyramid scheme.. and it's not like I'd make $$$ off it. You people don't like me enough. I'd probably get about $5 total.
    Losers.
I keed, I keed. I love you guys.

I'll just wait until a few more people chime in...

Maybe you can sell MP3's of your latest performances on iBook latch with chamber orchestra?

Don't see any problems with it, as long as you post tons and tons of pictures from your trip :D (well, at least the good ones).

    Do I get a T-shirt if I donate?

It's a Powerbook, thank you very much!!

    H'ok. Cool.

Yeah, you can buy as many Tshirts as you want-- I don't care. Not my money. :p

Ugh, those pyramid schemes are terrible, glad that you are not resorting to that type of method.

I am sure that we will give you more than that. :)

Good idea, basing decisions on my (often) poor judgement could prove detrimental. ;) :)

Is this really just an attempt to recoup all that money you blew on a prom dress? ;)

I see no problem with it either. But arn is the man to ask. PM him if you aren't sure.

We allow people to advertise subtly in their signatures.

And it is not like it's 100% cyberbegging, like the buy me a new Mac links, or sending you out of the country on a one-way trip. ;)

Arn and the mods will probably allow you a single thread, with a link in your signature.

Quite sure it won't get closed as quick as mymemory's "6 ft. tall stud needs green card and wife" type threads of the past.

Not too many of us would get the chance to travel with a symphony to those places.

Ask one of the other gods, mudbug...

Hmm, I see that being subtle is not one of your strong points. That said, desperate times may indeed call for desperate actions. ;) :)

Just don't start mugging people for "donations". ;) :)

I'm fine with it, fwiw. Arn, of course, trumps me, if he has a differing opinion.

If I don't get a reply by the end of the week, I'll put it in...

but if anyone has a problem with it, I'll kill it immediately. I don't want to step on any toes. I rather enjoy MacRumors. :D

Hey, in high school I went to exactly those same places on a band trip. I wonder if it's the same thing. Although we did land in Munich and tour that for a few hours. Your trip isn't being done by Intropa by any chance, is it?

I think since Katie is a finely established member, she should be given this privilege. I just hope this doesn't give the green light to mass donation sigs.

What is the rule on putting in a sig a link to sell something not Mac related?

Hey! It is intropa! Spooky. :p

Finally, hanging out on a website for entirely too long has gotten me somewhere!
and I also hope a massive wave of e-begging doesn't start...

Generally speaking, you're able to put links to just about anything you feel like in your signature. I'd shy away from questionable content places, and I'll kick you out personally if I see a referral link to some free hardware scam site, but otherwise it's yours for the using.

Just don't make the type huge, annoying and flashing, and no small farm animals will be hurt. :)

Ah, damn. There goes my strategy. :p
    I don't want to hurt small farm animals... I'm a veggie-terian!
    *sigh* oh welllll

Aww, KT always gets the short end of the stick. :(

    ---
h'ok good to know that I can do stuff like this as long as it isn't annoying. I'll add it on friday, because I know I won't be off my lazy bum until then.

    Weird coincidence...

Well, I'll have you know that it was one of the best experiences ever, although I think that was due mainly to the people. A small group some great people.
