I was looking to get a G5 tower for my video work (FCP, After Effects, PS). But now it seems I may need a portable. Will a PB be fast enough for these apps that I won't curse myself for not getting a tower? I don't need the fastest computer, but I am used to working on a DP 1.0 mac, and don't want to slow down too much. Thanks.

    Also, will I notice much of a speed difference between a 1.0 Ghz G4 and a 1.25 Ghz G4?

Obviously, the solution is to get both the G5 and the PB!

If that isn't particularly helpful, well -- if you "need" to be portable, get a portable with the 80 GB drive.

I haven't used a 1.25 GHz, I use a 1 GHz 17" PB, and color correction using Avid Xpress DV takes almost as long as the rave scene in "Reloaded" ;-)

If you can, get the G5. Gotta be much faster, internal drive space for multiple video projects, more everything for the money... But no, you're not gonna carry it on the plane.

(And if you're looking at the 15", beware the LCD leprosy!)

    My $0.02 ...
