    Likewise. A devastating portrayal of the gross incompetence exercised by the Bush administration at at time when competence might have made all the difference in Iraq.

    The things that most amaze me was the people that they sent in to manage the occupation:

    The absolute disregard that they had for competence is amazing.

    Exactly. It was like a reintroduction of the spoils system.

    Amazing also is the complete disconnect between the expectations of Franks (we'll withdraw down to 30-40,000 troops by September) and Rumsfeld (when do we leave?), and Bremmer's decision (was it really his? I found this to be a bit convenient and vague in the piece) to disband the army.

    It's hard to imagine how they could have been more incompetent.
