I had heard about problems with the Sonnet G4 450 and using the bottom 3 PCI slots in the PM 9500/9600 systems. I am currently using the top 3 slots in my 9500 G4 450 for a Sonnet Tango, a Radeon Mac Edition, and a Farallon wireless PCI card(so I can use my airport network on this computer). I was thinking about adding a SoundBlaster Live! and it would have to go in one of the bottom 3 slots. I was wondering if this would work...Please help!

PS: I don't know if there is this issue with the Sonnet G3 500, but I can always downgrade to that, if need be. Or maybe a PowerLogix...Again, please help!

I am in a similar situation with my 9600. There are only two kinds of G4 cards that will allow you to use the bottom 3 slots in a 9500/9600. The XLR8 SSE (Six Slot Edition) cards and Sonnet's new G4/800 card. Since XLR8 went out of business on Friday, I don't recommend that one unless you can get a great deal on it. I was looking at the Sonnet G4/800, which for under $400 looks like a pretty good deal to me. I have owned several Sonnet CPU cards over the years, and I've never had a problem.

I'm currently running a PowerLogix G3/500 in there, since I had to remove my old Sonnet G4/450 card to be able to use the bottom three slots. It runs okay, but their software for OS X stinks.
