According to German online news "Macnews.de", Phil Schiller will deliver the keynote at Paris Expo. They say Apple confirmed that Steve Jobs wasn't going to Paris.

I wonder if Steve "Control Freak" Jobs will let Phil announce the new iMacs? They seem to have a good working relationship at the least but does that mean that Steve will give Phil the opportunity to announce the new iMacs? After all, the iMac is basically Steve's baby and savior of Apple.

Jobs will beam by iSight from his hospital room the presentation. "I'm doing this using Airport Express and iSight from my new iMac in my hospital room." Schiller will just stand there.

Personally, if Steve Jobs doesn't/can't do the keynote, I'm hoping Woz will fill in. He is on the Apple payroll for public relations...

It would be cool to have Schiller deliver the keynote, but I can't believe that Steve won't have something to do with the release of the iMacs. He lives for showing that stuff off! And by the way, how did this end up under "mac gaming?"

It seems that relying on past behaviour to predict what Steve Jobs will do in this case is a little.. unrealistic. Any accurate analogy would have to start with "Each time Steve Jobs is recovering from <insert life-threatening condition> he does/does not allow Phil to do important keynotes.." since there are no previous situations to compare it to, this one is totally up in the air. Did his surgery make him think about an Apple without him? Does the company mean enough to him to put his ego aside and groom a replacement? These are things we can only speculate about.

As for me, I expect him to do what an earlier poster suggested. It's his turn to be the huge head beaming down from the screen while Phil talks. Would even be kind of humorous for those of us that were so annoyed with Bill Gates hanging over Steve's past keynote.

I clicked on the link and I noticed it was German so I used Sherlock to translate. Funny but still usable translation. Anyways, I am sure Phil will do fine with the keynote. I hope their is some good stuff announced including an iMac with a powerful enough video card to play Doom 3.

"As Apple just indicated, Apple Marketingchef Phil Schiller will hold
the Apple Expo Keynote on 31 August - not for Apple CEO Steve job.
Originally it had been expected that jobs Mac fair opens the important
Parisians - the announcement *iMac of the G5 expected. Over actual
contents of the key note as expected nothing is well-known. At the
beginning of had announced jobs August to insert until Septembers a
recovery phase after a successful pancreas cancer operation. It had
been speculated nevertheless that he participates nevertheless to the
    Apple Expo."
