I have the Philips HTS 3151D DVD Player with surround sound speakers.
I just bought a Sony STR-DH500 receiver to have all my components go into it and just have one HDMI go to the TV.

Instead of having the Philips for the speakers I was wondering if there was a way to use the Philips speakers with the Sony receiver. The Philips speakers use a propriety cable attachment but the cable still looks basic. The Sony uses the basic copper wire input. I was thinking I might be able to just cut the the plastic ends off that attach to the Philips receiver to use with the Sony.

Anyone have any ideas?
