Link: PhoneSaber finally re-released as LightSaber – Oh, and yeah, THQ ruined it
Description:: There was much speculation a few months back when THQ asked TheMacBox to remove their popular free PhoneSaber Star Wars app from the iTunes store citing copyright issues (apparently you can’t just make apps based on popular movies without permission… who knew?). Many wondered if it would still be free when it returned, while others (including us) wondered if it would return as looking more like a Nascar Car, full of ads and excess marketing crap.

    Well, it’s still free….

Yeah, it's definitely worse than the previous version. I updated to it on my phone and deleted it after a couple minutes. I will reinstall the old one from my computer.

I don't mind the new version. I definitely like the addition of the music. It adds a great effect to the duels. The little advertisement at the beginning of the app IS annoying, but its easy to skip right through it (it would be nice if you could choose for that ad not to come up again.) Overall, I like it.

    Not bad.......

THQ, yeah, they didn't do it much good. In fact, no good.

I like the music, and I do like Darth Vader saying "You were weak when I found you. Now your hatred has become your strength" and "Fulfill your destiny" when you tap the two bright stars that occasionally shine.

However I don't like the fact that there's 5 characters, 3 are red in colour, and only one (Darth Vader) have I actually heard of! (I'm no Star Wars fan, all I got is the 6 movies)
I want my purple and yellow saber back!

Ah well..... I'm keeping this one as It IS better, marginally, than PhoneSaber, but not by much.

You're right, the music is nice.

But I am a Star Wars fan, and I've only heard of two of the characters. I think the other three are from the game. It's just a big ad instead of a cool lightsaber app.

I don't like Star Wars, just the nifty sounds, so I'll keep the old. Too bad I never got the last update of the old one, which had the full-screen mode.

I wish you could "ignore updates" on an app so this wouldn't show up in my updates forever and all time, stopping me from using Update All. (At the same time, I can see how the simplicity of developers knowing they can notify ALL users is a good thing.)

I wonder if I can somehow rename it or change metadata so it doesn't KNOW what app it is anymore and can't find updates. It's certainly not the app name or file name alone, since that HAS changed but iTunes knows they're the same.

One thing I do like: the original developers ending up getting paid for their work. Even though it's our ad-viewing that pays them
