Photo filters seem to be applied when saving image to phone. The filter-applied images are in my photo gallery. But when I import the image to certain photo apps (Snapseed/Camera+/Diptic/ Superimpose or upload automatically to my Dropbox photo storage, the IOS 7 photo filter is stripped off. I'm left with just a raw image as if no filter has been applied. I'm using an iPhone 5.

Am I doing something wrong? If so, how do I get the filters to stay put?

They don't. I believe it was designed this way.

So what's the point of the filters?
    Seems odd to me.

I would select it so all you can see on the phone is the picture in question, then take a screenshot of it. Now you're filter is stuck on it. Not the ideal, easy solution Apple should of designed, but it'll do.

E.mail'ing is the only way to have iOS7 filters retained in your photos.

The EXIF data is still attached if you wanna view the source.

Ah yes ... Emailing seems to work. Thank you for the tip. Not ideal but better than nothing. ;)

Its NOT APPLE's fault. Developers' fault.

Your work around drastically destroys resolution.

I use PhotoSync to send photos between devices, it also supports DropBox and many others,

    It has this option.

I cropped that using iOS Photos app, and Tapatalk used the edit, not the original.

Its up to the developer to use the original or edit. The API is there. Apple cant force them, merely provide the option.

File a support ticket with DropBox.
