Remember when all the mouth-breathers were kvetching that anyone would dare criticize a private business owner for requesting customers speak English only in his restaurants?

You'd figure (for the sake of intellectual consistency) that they would say the same about a private business owner who wanted to accept payment in pesos. But of course you'd be wrong...

I'll say it again... hatred is NOT a family value.

I saw this on the news.

    I think it's a good idea. Why not accept Peso's, it's not like it's un-patriotic or anything.

They're a few hours from Mexico. What's the big deal with them accepting Mexican money?

Maybe, business across the border from Canada shouldn't accept Canadian money, either.

It doesn't matter, except for the exchange rate, of course.

Absolutely. And why don't they do away with those stupid Currency Exchange Booths in airports? I mean, what's up with that? Tell those other people to take their filthy lucre elsewhere. In God we trust. All others pay dollars.

It seems like this is a non-story. Many border towns accept either currency. The media has brought un-do attention to this and exposing it to the few crazies out there who are super-racist about it. I think the real culprit here is the news media who put this story on the air. They are fishing for content.

Jesus ***** christ.....who cares? Money's money. The store can accept whatever they want, if they want to accept Monopoly money, then more power to them.

I doubt that for 2 reasons:

    1. The illegal immigrants are working in the US. They're likely getting paid in US dollars.
    2. Illegals make hardly any money. I don't think they're going to spend it all on pizza.

This is going to be used by people travelling between the 2 countries who haven't had a chance to exchange everything back to USD.

You make some valid points, but consider this: How many US citizens use peso's?

The immigrants using peso's are new to the US, and if they are using them, they are probably illeagal, because most places in the U.S don't accept peso's, and therefore, they would be useless without converting them.

That said, I'm still in favor of this accepting peso's thing.

well, the "huh" was meant for you to explain the non-sensical " mexicans would love to read every 10 reply you made to this subject".

and the giant ibook is about your claim that yours is 14 feet long. i'm skeptical.

As long as it doesn't affect people's ability to use dollars, why should anyone care? I could understand if they ONLY took pesos, but if you're not using them, it's not gonna affect you any.
